The Story Behind a Clasp

The Story Behind a Clasp

texte de Joya Nehme

Most jewelry treats the clasp as a problem to solve: a functional necessity, hidden at the back. At Nouvel Heritage, the approach runs in the opposite direction: across three collections, the mechanism that holds the piece together has become the piece itself, and what is usually hidden has been brought to the surface. The brand thesis is that beauty lives in the details. The piercing clasp on a Mood bangle, the sliding mechanism on a Latch pendant, the diamond-set closure on a Try Me necklace: each one a working mechanism that required as much attention as everything around it.

Mood Collection

The signature is the piercing clasp. Every Mood piece carries the same closure: a working mechanism finished by hand, where the clasp pierces through the band of the piece. The inspiration is the piercing itself, a small act of self-expression and freedom, brought into fine jewelry and refined into a working closure. It is a real, functional, mechanical detail that took years to perfect in the workshops. On the wrist, most wearers adjust it without thinking. That is the point. A detail that works so well it becomes part of how you wear the piece.

Latch Collection

The Latch collection takes that logic further. The pendant is shaped like the cord stopper of a hoodie drawstring, finished in 18k gold and diamonds. Modular by design, Latch is built around a clasp mechanism that slides along the chain. The wearer can adjust how the pendant sits, swap pendants between chains, change chain lengths, combine pieces.

Try Me

Try Me is the place where the Maison's innovation pillar is most explicit, engineered and produced at our Besançon manufacture. The collection is inspired by the symbolic act of forging a chain, reinterpreting the classic chain link with fragmented forms and U-shaped spikes. Try Me carries the modular concept in its most radiant form. Crafted in Besançon in 18k yellow gold with diamonds set along its links, it connects with other Try Me pieces to create something that deepens over time. A piece designed for transformation and transmission.
